MARSHALL, Texas – Producing two shutout, one-hit victories at Bell Park at Taylor Field on Saturday afternoon as no. 1 East Texas Baptist University won over York College (Pa.), 3-0, and 9-0. ETBU is now 15-1.
Avery Holland and Lakin Daniels pitched gems, giving up one hit at the top of the final inning. Holland moved to 3-0 in a seven-inning, 3-0 win with three strikeouts. Daniels then had a five-inning, one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for her first collegiate win.
ETBU 3, York 0
ETBU scored one run in three consecutive innings in the fourth, fifth, and sixth for the 3-0 win.
Katelynn Jones was 2-of-2 with two RBI, and
Tristen Maddox had one RBI. Jones tripled in two runs in the first run in the fourth with a hit down the left field line as
Carley Johnson scored. In the fifth, Maddox had a home run to left field making it 2-0. Jones finished the scoring in the sixth singling in
Emma Bell.

In a five-inning, run-rule game, ETBU had seven hits for nine runs.
Izabella Morales was 2-of-2 with a RBI as Hayle Stum had one hit for two RBI.
Makayla Menchue led with three RBI on a home run. Bell also had one hit for a RBI as
Maci Shirley collected her first collegiate home run. Daniels retired 11 straight in the game before a single broke the no-hitter in the fifth inning.
Stum singled in two runs in the first to start the game and give ETBU a 2-0 lead. ETBU then had a six-run second inning, starting with a Morales single scoring
Braidee Glenn. A bases-loaded walk gave Bell an RBI, and then a passed ball let Stum score, making it 5-0. Menchue then had a three-run home run for an 8-0 lead.
Maci Shirley had a solo home run in the fourth for the 9-0 win.
ETBU will next play on March 13 in Virginia against George Fox, no. 8 Virginia Wesleyan, no. 18 Pfeiffer, and no. 9 Christopher Newport.
