BROWNWOOD, Texas – Overcoming an early four-run deficit, No. 20/25 East Texas Baptist University came from behind for a 7-4 win over Howard Payne University. HPU had an early 4-0 lead after the first inning before ETBU scored five runs in the sixth inning to take the lead. ETBU is now 17-10 and 4-1 in the American Southwest Conference.

Nicolas Chavez,
Dylan Burnaman, and
Joaquin Costa all had two hits. Burnament led the team with three RBI while Costa added two and
Ben Lean one.
Jagger Neely worked through a tough first inning going eight innings for his first win of the year recording five strikeouts.
Braden Karnes finished the ninth inning for the save with one strikeout.
HPU did all their scoring in the first inning for a 4-0 lead. ETBU put their first run on the board when Costa singled in Howard in the fifth inning. ETBU had a five-run sixth inning to take the lead for good, 6-4.
Carson Livesay came in on a passed ball for the second run and Lea pulled ETBU within one, 4-3, with a sac fly. Burnaman's two RBI single scored Chavez and Howard putting ETBU in the lead, 5-4. Costa finished off the scoring in the inning with a single through the left side as Burnaman was the sixth run for ETBU.
Burnaman picked up his second RBI of the game in the eighth inning as Howard came home making it 7-4.
ETBU will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 3:00 p.m.
