MARSHALL, Texas—For the third year in a row, East Texas Baptist University has won 10 or more matches. In the final American Southwest Conference meeting with the YellowJackets, ETBU took a 6-1 decision over LeTourneau University. ETBU is now 10-3 and 3-1 in the ASC.
Doubles play favored ETBU winning all three easily.
Sam Black and
Max Karseno won the no. 1 match, 6-1, and
Slade Austin and
BT White shutout LETU, 6-0, at no. 2.
Jacob Daniell and
Erick Van Zyle took the no. 3 match, 6-2, for the first point.
ETBU then took matches no. 2 through no. 6 for the win. White won in tiebreaker at no. 2, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0, and Karseno won at no. 3, 6-2, 6-0.
Baptiste Berthier won at no. 4, 6-1, 6-4, and Austin had 6-2, 6-2 wins at no. 5. Van Zyl earned a point at no. 6, 6-1, 6-1. Black lost at no. 1 in a tiebreaker, 6-3, 2-6, 1-6.
ETBU heads to Atlanta, Ga., for three more matches to end the season against UC Santa Cruz, LaGrange College, and Berry College on Sunday and Monday.
