#TIGERSWIN | BB | No. 20/23 ETBU Hits 11 Home Runs Scoring 46 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of LETU

MARSHALL, Texas – No slow starts took place for No. 20/23 East Texas Baptist University on day two of the American Southwest Conference series as the Tigers produced 46 runs, 38 hits, including 11 home runs, five doubles, and one triple in the sweep over LeTourneau University. ETBU won game one, 20-3, and then posted a 26-3 victory in the nightcap. ETBU is now 22-11 and 9-2 in the ASC.
 
Head coach Jared Hood earned his 300th career win in game one vs. LeTourneau. ETBU broke their record for runs, set in 2003, by scoring 14 runs in the first inning of game two. That game also included three home runs from Connor Massimini, who tied the ASC record for home runs in a single game.
 
Luke Bumpus led ETBU with seven hits, two home runs, six runs scored, and nine RBI. Massimini added five hits, four home runs, nine RBI, and seven runs scored. Dylan Burnaman gave five hits for six RBI with two doubles and two home runs. Hunter Rumachik scored seven times and had five hits for six RBI on two home runs and a triple. William Howard finished with four hits, seven RBI, and one home run. Nathan Harmon and Jacob Newland gave two RBIs each, while Joaquin Costa, Luke Finn, and Ben Lea all had one RBI.
 
Braden Hodge earned his first collegiate win, going 3.2 innings of relief in game one with two strikeouts, one hit, and no runs scored. Jagger Neely won in game two on six innings of work with eight strikeouts, three earned runs, and five hits.
 
Game 1
ETBU 20, LETU 3

ETBU overwhelmed LeTourneau with a dominant 20-3 victory, highlighted by a 12-run first inning. This game marked a significant milestone as it was head coach Jared Hood's 300th career win.
 
Matthew Irwin pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs with four walks and two strikeouts. Braden Hodge relieved Irwin and pitched effectively over 3 2/3 innings, surrendering only one hit with no runs and striking out two batters for his first win of the year.
 
Bumpus led the Tigers with a standout offensive performance, recording three runs, three hits, and three RBIs, including a home run. Rumachik added four runs and three hits, including a triple and two home runs, achieving four RBIs. Burnaman excelled by driving in a team-high five RBIs with three hits, including a double and a home run. Massimini added three RBIs on two hits, including a home run, and scored three runs.
 
ETBU had a powerful start in the first inning, scoring 12 runs. Luke Finn walked to begin the inning and was followed by consecutive singles from Joaquin. Costa and Bumpus, with Finn scoring on Bumpus's hit. Ben Lea doubled, bringing Costa home, and Rumachik hit a three-run homer. Later in the inning, Burnaman delivered a grand slam, extending the lead. The Tigers led 12–2 after the first inning.
 
In the second inning, the Tigers added to their lead with Bumpus hitting a solo homer, increasing their advantage to 13–2 through two innings.
 
In the third inning, ETBU scored four more runs. Massimini hit a three-run homer, followed by an RBI single from Finn that brought Burnaman home. The inning ended with the Tigers leading 17–2.
 
Rumachik tripled and scored on Jacob Newland's double during the fourth inning. Burnaman added another run with a groundout. ETBU maintained a 19–3 lead after four innings.
 
Rumachik hit his second home run of the game in the fifth inning, adding another run for ETBU, which brought the score to 20–3.
 
The Tigers' defense held LeTourneau scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings and ended the game with 16 hits and no errors.

ETBU 26, LETU 3

ETBU kept the offense going in game two with 22 hits, including six home runs and two doubles, in the 26-3 victory. The first inning was highlighted by a record-breaking 14 runs, breaking ETBU's single-game record for runs in an inning. The prior record was 13 runs in the seventh inning at Austin College on March 21, 2003.
 
Bumpus showcased a standout performance with four hits, including a home run, and drove in six while scoring three times. Massimini delivered a powerful display at the plate by hitting three home runs, driving in six runs, and scoring four times, adding two stolen bases to his efforts. William Howard added three hits, including a home run, bringing in six RBIs and scoring twice.
 
Neely pitched six innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs, with two home runs surrendered, while striking out eight batters and walking one. Ben Burroughs followed with a one-inning outing, allowing no hits and striking out one of the four batters.
 
ETBU opened the game with a commanding offensive performance in the first inning. Costa and Bumpus started with singles, followed by a series of strategic base advancements, including a steal from Bumpus and a hit by pitch to Lea. Rumachik drew a walk, allowing Costa to score the first run. Howard then hit a grand slam, driving in four runs and extending the lead. Massimini added a solo home run, while Bumpus contributed with a two-RBI single. Howard and Massimini recorded multiple RBIs, leading the Tigers to a 14–0 lead after the first inning.
 
In the second inning, ETBU continued its strong hitting with a two-run homer by Bumpus, bringing the score to 16–0. LeTourneau scored their first run in the third inning with a solo home run. However, the Tigers responded in their half of the inning with a solo home run from Burnaman, who tied the ASC single-game record with three home runs, keeping a wide lead of 17–1 through three innings.
 
By the fourth inning, ETBU added three more runs, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Bumpus, extending their lead to 20–2. Defensive plays, including a groundout and a strikeout, limited LeTourneau to one run in the inning.
 
In the fifth inning, the Tigers scored an additional run on a wild pitch that brought in Rumachik, pushing the score to 21–2. LeTourneau was unable to score, keeping the deficit wide.
 
In the sixth inning, ETBU capitalized on a series of hits and errors, scoring five runs. Massimini hit another home run, a two-RBI shot, increasing the lead to 26–3.
 
The seventh inning concluded with a solid defensive stand from the Tigers, preventing any runs from LeTourneau.
