BELTON, Texas – Winning one game in the final doubleheader of the regular season, No. 20/23 East Texas Baptist University clinched a tie for the 2025 American Southwest Conference Regular Season Championship with a 10-inning, 4-3, victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. With the win, they will also host the ASC Championship Tournament next weekend. ETBU fell in game two, 8-7, in 10 innings as UMHB had a walk-off win and ends the regular season at 25-14 and 11-5 in the ASC.
Game 1
ETBU 4, UMHB 3 (10 inn)
Will Howard singled in
Hunter Rumachik in the 10
th inning for the go ahead run in the 10
th inning as ETBU held onto the win, 4-3, clinching the ASC regular season championship.
Carson Livesay went 3-of-5 with one RBI as
Joaquin Costa was 3-of-4 with two RBI. Howard added one RBI.
Landry Powell went seven innings for the no decision with three strikeouts as
Tyler Bogusz earned the win going three innings with two strikeouts.
ETBU was down 3-0 after four innings before scoring two in the fifth. Costa singled in Humachik and Livesay brought in Costa for the two runs. In the sixth, Costa doubled in Rumachik to tie the game. In the 10
th inning, with Rumachik on second after recording a double, Howard singled to left field scoring Rumachik. In the bottom of the inning, Bogusz recorded a strikeout and had the final out with a fly ball to right field with two runners on base.
Game 2
UMHB 8, ETBU 7 (10 inn)
UMHB walked off with the win in the bottom of the 10
th inning as the bases were loaded with two outs. The tying run was walked in with two outs and then UMHB had a hit to right field for the win.
Four players had two hits as
Ryan Ruff and
Nathan Harmon had two RBI.
Connor Massimini had one RBI as
Nathan Harmon had a home run. ETBU used nine pitchers in the game as
Ethan Brister took the loss in the 10
th inning.
Nolan Bushko started and had three strikeouts.
ETBU was up 6-4 in the top of the sixth but gave up two runs in the bottom of the inning for a tie. In the 10
th inning, Ruff scored on balk for the one-run lead, 7-6. UMHB then scored two in the bottom of the 10
th inning with two outs to end the game.
ETBU will host the ASC Tournament next weekend.
