MARSHALL, Texas – Advancing to the 2025 American Southwest Conference Tournament Championship, no. 25/29 East Texas Baptist University shutout LeTourneau University, 7-0, using a strong pitching performance from
Jagger Neely. ETBU is now 27-14 and is heading to their fifth ASC Tournament Championship game in program history.
Luke Finn drove in three runs with a double as part of his 2-for-4 day at the plate, also earning a walk and scoring a run.
Nicolas Chavez went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, while also drawing a walk and scoring twice.
Connor Massimini finished with two hits and one RBI as
Hunter Rumachik and
Dylan Burnaman added a RBI. Neely delivered a commanding performance on the mound, pitching a complete-game shutout over nine innings allowing six hits, walked five, and struck out eight.
The Tigers started strong in the first inning with Finn reaching base on a walk and later scoring on Rumachik's double to left center, putting the team up 1–0. In the second inning, Livesay walked and advanced with a sacrifice bunt by
Nathan Harmon. Chavez then doubled to right field, driving in Livesay for another run, establishing a 2–0 lead. The third inning saw Rumachik get hit by a pitch and later score on a double by Massimini, extending the lead to 3–0.
In the fourth inning, Chavez doubled and was brought home by Finn's single, pushing the lead to 4–0. The eighth inning was pivotal as the Tigers added three more runs. Massimini and Livesay singled, setting up Burnaman's sacrifice fly that allowed Massimini to score. Finn then delivered a two-RBI double, driving in Livesay and Chavez, which increased the lead to 7–0.
After LETU had two runners on with one out, Neely finished with a foul out and a fly out to secure the win.
ETBU will now play either LeTourneau or Hardin-Simmons in the ASC Championship on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
