#TIGERSWIN | MBB | Tigers Take a Win at Home in a Rematch Against Lyon College

 MARSHALL, Texas — In a thrilling rematch at home East Texas Baptist (5-12, 0-0 ASC) secured a 66-62 victory over Lyon (10-4, 5-1 SLIAC) on Wednesday night at Ornelas Gymnasium. The Tigers maintained their lead despite a late surge from Lyon, capitalizing on 17 points off turnovers.

Michael Roberts led the team with 17 points, converting 7 of 9 free throws, and secured nine rebounds. Shad Levy added 16 points, including two 3-pointers, and recorded two steals. Jack Pease contributed 13 points, dished out three assists, and tallied three steals. Christian Dews posted two steals and finished with four points in his first game back with the Tigers. 

The Tigers took an early deficit to start the game but tied things up later with a layup by Pease at 18:48. ETBU extended their lead midway through the half with a steal and subsequent fast-break jumper by Levy, putting them ahead at 13:40.  Orlando Gooden III made major contributions in the first half, sinking two free throws at 10:09, and a 3-pointer at 3:27. Despite some turnovers, ETBU's defensive pressure resulted in six steals, keeping Lyon College at bay. Nathan Fleming scored a clutch layup as the half expired, giving the Tigers a 30–21 lead.

ETBU regained momentum in the second half with a crucial 3-pointer by Levy at 1:22, giving them a 62-57 lead. Roberts contributed significantly with a layup at 9:07, tying the score and keeping the pressure on Lyon. Despite Lyon's persistent challenges, the Tigers maintained control with Pease's free throw sealing the half at 66-62. The game concluded with the Tigers securing the victory, final score 66-62.
