CONWAY, Ark. — Playing their sixth match in a row on the road, East Texas Baptist University lost a heartbreaking match to Hendrix College, 1-0 on Wednesday night. ETBU finished with a 17-7 shot advantage and seven shots on goal but was held scoreless.
Jacob Whittington led the Tigers with six shots and put three on goal.
Joshua Daley added five shots, including one on frame.
Ryan Lord played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves.
ETBU pushed through a sustained attacking stretch midway through the first half, taking six shots from 23:26 to 29:57, including saved attempts by
Braxton Ladwig and Whittington. The Tigers earned three corners in a 1:09 span and had
Dylan Garcia's shot saved by Hendrix at 12:00, while Lord made a save on the Warriors attacking player at 18:02 as the first half finished without a goal.
The second half brought 30 minutes of scoreless soccer until the 76 minute mark. ETBU had to chase the match after Hendrix scored at 76:39, putting the home side ahead 1-0. The Tigers created sustained pressure earlier in the half with saved shots by Whittington and Garcia and three corner kicks between 50:50 and 54:34. Whittington and Daley each forced late saves after the goal, but Hendrix found the net and held off a late ETBU push.
ETBU goes home for the first time since September 9th, hosting the University Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Cornish Field in American Southwest Conference play.
