SEWANEE, Tenn. – Splitting their matches in Tennessee, East Texas Baptist University picked up a win over Covenant College on Saturday, 4-3, before falling to host #22 University of the South (Sewanee), 6-1. ETBU is now 2-2 on the year.

Down 1-0 after doubles, ETBU won four matches in singles to take the close win. ETBU fell in no. 1 and no. 2 doubles, 6-4, before
Jaco Snyman and
Jacob Daniell won 6-0 in the third set. Covenant took the point, though, winning the first two matches.
In singles, ETBU took four straight singles matches for the win. Snyman won at no. 2, in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, for a point.
Mark Armbruster then won no. 3, 6-1, 6-1, and
Erick Van Zyl took the no. 4 match, 6-3, 6-4.
Max Karseno gave ETBU another point at no. 5 with a 6-1, 6-0, to finish off Covenant.

ETBU took the doubles point for a 1-0 lead but then fell in all six singles matches. Karseno and
Sam Black won at no. 1, 6-3, over Andre-Remi Jakobi and Samuel Schroerlucke. Armbruster and Van Zyl took the no. 2 match, in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4).
ETBU will travel to Texarkana, Texas, on Tuesday to face Texas A&M Texarkana and the University of the Ozarks.
