TEXARKANA, Texas – In a two-match day at Texas A&M Texarkana, East Texas Baptist University split their matches vs. TAMUT and the University of the Ozarks. ETBU fell in their first match to TAMU-Texarkana, 5-2, but earned their first win of the year, 6-0, over Ozarks, moving to 1-3.

Facing NAIA TAMUT, ETBU won two singles matches. Starting down 1-0 after doubles,
Monique Ybarra won at no. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Emmanouela Besi.
Amelia Anding then won the no. 6 match, 6-2, 6-4, for the second point.
ETBU 6, Ozarks 0
ETBU shut out Ozarks in their second match of the day, 6-0. Playing only two doubles matches, ETBU won both to take the first point. Ybarra and
Fernanda Ruiz Burkart won the no. 1 match, 6-2, over Madison Hamilton and Kelsey Smith.
Neyna Gonzalez and Alexis Strong then took the no. 2 match, 6-1, against Erika Jones and Jayden Vazquez.
In singles play, ETBU swept the no. 1 through no. 5 matches, as there wasn't a no. 6 match. Ruiz Burkhart won the no. 1 match, 6-1, 6-1, over Smith, while Isabell Macquet had a 6-1, 6-0, win at no. 2. Jazmne Ford-Schartner blanked Jones, 6-0, 6-0, as Gonzalez did the same at no. 4 over Vazquez. Strong then won the no. 5 match, 6-0, 6-0, for the team's 6-0 victory.
ETBU will host Austin College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Veterans' Memorial Tennis Complex.
