MARSHALL, Texas – Taking on a NJCAA program, East Texas Baptist University blanked Jacksonville College, 7-0, but had three matches go to tiebreakers. ETBU is now 5-3 on the year as the match only counts for ETBU's record and not NCAA since Jacksonville is a junior college.
ETBU opened the match sweeping through the doubles for the first point.
Max Karseno and
Sam Black won 6-3 at no. 1 and
Mark Armbruster and
Erick Van Zyl took the no. 2 match, 6-4.
Jaco Snyman and
Jacob Daniell shut out their opponents at no. 3, 6-0.
Black then won no. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-0, and Snyman took his match at no. 2, 6-3, 6-1. Armbruster finished off a win at no. 3, 6-0, 6-2, before three tiebreaking matches. Van Zyl won the no. 4 match, 6-7, 7-6, 10-5, before Karseno took the no. 5 match, 6-7, 7-6, 10-7. Daniell was the final tiebreaking match at no. 6 with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 win.
ETBU will have their third straight home match on Friday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. vs. St. Thomas Houston.
