ANGOLA, Ind. – In their second acrobatics and tumbling tri-meet in three days, East Texas Baptist University took Trine University and Concordia University Wisconsin down to the final event. ETBU fell to both programs scoring 199.475 points to CUW's 221.685 points and Trine's 217.405 points. ETBU is now 3-3 on the year.
ETBU started the meet with 26.60 points in the Compulsory Event trailing CUW's 30.15 and Trine's 30.70. The Tigers scored a 9.00 in the Pyramid Heat for their best score of the night. In the Acro Event, ETBU pushed CUW to the limits scoring 23.10 points to the Falcon's 23.80 and defeated Trine's 22.45. ETBU's best heat was the 5 Element with an 8.30. To finish the half, ETBU scored a 22.75 in the Pyramid Heat and with an 8.95 in the Synchronized Heat for 72.45 points. CUW had 81.75 points and Trine posted 80.85 points at the half.
Coming off the half, ETBU scored 23.20 in the Toss Event with their top score of 8.05 in the 450 Salto. The Tumbling Event was the closest event of the meet as Trine took the event with 40.875 points. CUW added 40.775 and ETBU had 40.475 as 0.40 points separated ETBU from taking the event. ETBU had four 7.0+ scores with a 7.85 as their best in the Aerial Pass. The meet ended with the Team Event where ETBU scored 63.35 points as CUW had 75.11 and Trine finished with 70.93.
ETBU will head to Seguin, Texas, on Saturday March 21, to face Texas Lutheran University at 4:00 p.m.
