MARSHALL, Texas — Walking off for the victory in the bottom of the 10
th inning, East Texas Baptist University (10-6) edged Lyon College (Arkansas) (8-3) with a thrilling 8–7 victory on Friday night.
Connor Massimini's sacrifice fly in the 10th inning secured the win, capping off a game where
Kahne Nolen contributed with a home run. Lyon had rallied in the third inning with four runs, but ETBU's pitching staff held strong, combining for 13 strikeouts to clinch the win.
Carter Nannini had three hits driving in one run. Nolen added a home run and recording two RBIs.

Jobee Boone was 2-of-2 with a RBI as
Kaden Wharton also had two hits with a RBI.
Jake Schumacher excelled on the mound, pitching three innings and striking out five batters while allowing just one hit for the win.
Matthew Irwin started for the Tigers, pitching three innings and allowing five earned runs on six hits.
Cody Myers relieved, throwing four innings with two earned runs on three hits, striking out three and allowing a home run. Schumacher closed the game with a strong performance, pitching three innings, for the win.
ETBU started strong, scoring in the first inning with Costa crossing home on a sacrifice fly by Massimini. The momentum continued in the second inning as
Justin Flannery singled and later scored on a double by Wharton, extending the lead to 2–0.
In the third inning, Lyon responded with four runs, but ETBU countered with a two-run homer by Nolen, tying the game at 4–4 after three innings.
Lyon regained the lead in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly that brought the score to 5–4. The sixth inning saw Lyon extend its lead to 6–4. However, the Tigers closed the gap in the seventh inning when Tewers scored on a balk, bringing the score to 6–5.
Lyon scored again in the seventh to make it 7–5, but ETBU answered in the eighth. Flannery scored on a double by pinch hitter Boone, and Boone later scored on a single by Nannini, tying the game at 7–7.
The game remained tied through the ninth inning as Lyon College turned a double play with a runner on third base. In the tenth, ETBU broke the deadlock as Costa scored on a sacrifice fly by Massimini to take game one, 8-7.
ETBU will face Lyon College in a double header at noon on Saturday, March 14.
