#TIGERSWIN | SB | ETBU Run-Rules Dallas Twice in Doubleheader Sweep

MARSHALL, Texas — Dawning St. Patrick's Day, Green East Texas Baptist University run-ruled the University of Dallas 10-1 and 10-0 in a Tuesday home double-header against the University of Dallas.

The Tigers collected 19 hits and 20 runs over the two games, while holding the Crusaders to just one run. Makayla Menchue and Piper Morton each homered, and Izabella Morales finished with three hits, four runs scored, and five RBIs.

ETBU's pitching staff allowed only five hits and struck out 11. Alexis Kemp started the opener and pitched four innings before being relieved by Macie Lee. In Game 2, McKenzie Jones tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out seven and allowing only two hits.

Game One
ETBU 10,  University of Dallas 1

ETBU defeated the University of Dallas 10–1 on Tuesday, powered by a strong offensive start. ETBU scored six runs in the first inning, including a home run and four doubles, to take control early. The defense held Dallas to just three hits over five innings, securing a decisive victory.

Piper Morton recorded four RBIs and hit a home run. Izabella Morales scored two runs and added two RBIs with a double. Ryan Stratman contributed two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Emma Boren finished with two hits, one of which was a triple, and drove in two runs.

ETBU opened the game with a commanding first inning, scoring six runs. Katelynn Jones walked and stole second, followed by Stratman's single, advancing Jones to third. Morales doubled, scoring Jones, and Morton hit a three-run homer, bringing in Morales and Stratman. Ava Rodriguez reached first on an error, and Boren tripled, scoring Rodriguez. McKenzie Jones hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Boren to score. The Tigers led 6–0 after the first inning.

In the second inning, Dallas managed to score one run, but ETBU responded with three more. Stratman doubled and stole third, and Morales was hit by a pitch and then stole second. Morton reached on an error, scoring Stratman, and a pinch runner scored on Rodriguez's sacrifice fly. Boren singled, bringing in the final run of the inning. The score was 9–1 in favor of the Tigers after the second inning.

During the third inning, ETBU added another run. Katelynn Jones walked, advanced on a single by Maci Shirley, and scored on a sacrifice by Morales. The score increased to 10–1 for ETBU after the third inning.

The fourth and fifth innings remained scoreless for both teams, securing a decisive victory for the Tigers. The final score was ETBU 10, Dallas 1.

Game Two
ETBU 10, University of Dallas 0

ETBU continued to outpace Dallas in the second game of the double-header winning 10-0. The Tigers accumulated nine hits, including three doubles and a home run, while scoring in each of the first four innings. The team capitalized on four two-out RBIs and maintained a flawless fielding display with no errors. Dallas managed only two hits and committed two errors, unable to respond to the consistent pressure from ETBU's lineup.

Katelynn Jones scored two runs, collected one hit, and drove in an RBI, contributing to ETBU's offensive effort. Izabella Morales also made a significant impact by scoring two runs, recording two hits, and driving in three RBIs. Makayla Menchue excelled by hitting a home run, tallying three RBIs, and scoring two runs. McKenzie Jones delivered a strong performance on the mound, pitching a complete-game shutout while striking out seven batters over five innings.

The game began with Katelynn Jones walking and later scoring on a single by Morales. Morales also crossed home on a sacrifice bunt by Emma Boren, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead after the first inning.

In the second inning, Menchue reached first on an error, advanced on a passed ball, and scored on a single by Jones. Morales then contributed with a two-RBI single, allowing Jones and Mallory Pyle to score. This extended the lead to 5-0 by the end of the second inning.

The third inning saw Ashley De Leon score on a double by Pyle, pushing the lead to 6-0.

In the fourth inning, Morales walked and stole second before Menchue hit a three-run homer. Pyle then doubled to bring in De Leon, capping a four-run inning and increasing the lead to 10-0.

McKenzie Jones pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing no runs and just two hits over five innings. The final score was 10-0 in favor of ETBU.
