#TIGERSWIN | SB | Tigers Offense Excels in Conference Opener at UMHB

BELTON, Texas — East Texas Baptist University began conference play with two impressive road victories over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Tigers defeated the Crusaders 4-1 in the first game, then secured a run-rule win in the second, triumphing 12-0 in five innings. Emma Boren led the offense with four hits, four RBIs, and two runs scored, including a home run in the opener. Ava Rodriguez also tallied four hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored. McKenzie Jones tossed a complete-game shutout in the second contest, allowing no runs and striking out five.

Game One 
ETBU 4 UMHB 1

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Tigers broke through with a run. They extended their lead with two more runs in the sixth, and a solo homer in the seventh sealed the win. UMHB managed to score a single run in the sixth but was unable to overcome the deficit.

Emma Boren led the offensive charge, recording a home run and driving in two runs. Avery Holland dominated on the mound, completing the game with 7 innings pitched and allowing only one earned run. Aleyna St. Jean contributed at the plate with two hits and an RBI. Ava Rodriguez added two hits, including a double, to bolster the team's hitting efforts.

ETBU secured a 4–1 victory over UMHB. The game remained scoreless through the first four innings as both teams' defenses held strong. In the fifth inning, the Tigers broke the deadlock when Aleyna St. Jean singled up the middle, allowing pinch runner Julia St. John to score. The score stood at 1–0 after the fifth inning.

The sixth inning saw further action from ETBU. Rodriguez hit a double and was replaced by pinch runner Carley Johnson, who scored along with Boren after Boren hit a two-run homer. UMHB managed to respond with one run in the bottom of the inning, bringing the score to 3–1 in favor of the Tigers after the sixth inning.

In the final inning, the ETBU extended its lead when Katelynn Jones reached third on a stolen base and an error, then scored on a groundout by Ryan Stratman. Holland closed out the game, ending the game with a score of 4–1 in favor of ETBU.

Game Two
ETBU 12,  UMHB 0

East Texas Baptist University secured a 12-0 run-rule victory over The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the second game of the doubleheader. The Tigers showcased offensive strength, scoring seven runs in the first inning and amassing 15 hits throughout the game. Pitcher McKenzie Jones led the effort defensively, allowing only two hits over five innings while striking out five, contributing to the team's shutout win.

Ava Rodriguez made a strong impact by scoring two runs and collecting two RBIs. Emma Boren led her team with three hits and added two RBIs to her performance. Jones excelled on the mound, delivering a complete game shutout over 5 innings and recording five strikeouts. Mallory Pyle contributed to the team's success by scoring two runs and drawing one walk.

The game began with a strong offensive showing in the first inning, where ETBU scored seven runs. Katelynn Jones walked and stole second, setting up Ryan Stratman for an RBI single. Piper Morton reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Izabella Morales to score on an error. Rodriguez and Boren contributed with back-to-back RBI singles. Makayla Menchue then drove in two more runs with a single that led to an error, and Aleyna St. Jean added another RBI with a groundout. The inning concluded with a 7-0 lead for the Tigers.

In the second inning, the Tigers extended their lead with two additional runs. Stratman reached on an error and later scored on Rodriguez's single. Boren's subsequent RBI single brought in Rodriguez, pushing the score to 9-0 by the end of the inning.

The third inning saw ETBU capitalizing on an error by the pitcher, with Stratman reaching first and Mallory Pyle scoring as a result. The score increased to 10-0.

The Tigers continued their offensive drive in the fourth inning. Boren singled in Julia St. John, who was pinch running. Kayleigh Cassels, pinch-hitting, delivered an RBI single to score Carley Johnson, closing the inning with a score of 12-0.

The fifth inning remained scoreless, but the Tigers secured a shutout victory, with McKenzie Jones pitching a complete game, allowing only two hits and striking out five. The final score was ETBU 12, UMHB 0.
