MARSHALL, Texas – In a pitchers dual that featured 18 combined strikeouts, no. 24 East Texas Baptist University (14-7) couldn't break through the College of Wooster's (14-4) defense in s 3-0 loss. ETBU's pitchers posted 11 strikeouts while Wooster had seven holding ETBU to just four hits.
Carson Livesay recorded one hit, a double, and drew a walk.
Connor Massimini also added a double, finishing with one hit.
Tyler Bogusz delivered a strong performance, pitching six innings without allowing an earned run and striking out five batters. He limited Wooster to just three hits and did not issue any walks, but received the loss.
Aiden Leonard contributed three innings in relief, recording six strikeouts, allowing two earned runs on two hits.
The game remained scoreless through the middle innings as both teams settled into a defensive duel. Wooster had their first run of the game in the second inning on a double that scored an unearned run. The Tigers got a boost in the sixth inning with Livesay walking and Massimini doubling down the left field line, advancing Livesay to third. However, the team could not capitalize, leaving the inning with no runs.
In the ninth inning, Wooster extended its lead on a pinch-hit two-run home run to make it a 3-0 final.
ETBU will host Wooster (OH), again, on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
