#TIGERSWIN | BB | #24 ETBU Takes Down #8 TLU, 13-7

MARSHALL, Texas — Down 6-3 after five innings, no. 24 East Texas Baptist (14-6) erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning for a come-from-behind win over no. 8 Texas Lutheran University, 13-7. ETBU posted 17 hits, with six going for extra base hits (3 home runs), 13 runs and the pitching staff posted 15 strikeouts.
 
Carson Livesay recorded three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Joaquin Costa contributed two hits  and brought in two runs. Justin Flannery made a significant impact with two hits, a home run, and led the team with five RBIs. Jobee Boone added three hits and scored four runs, while also stealing two bases. Kahne Nolen had a home run as Brody Tewers added a RBI.
 
Isaac Thornton pitched seven innings, allowing six earned runs on six hits while striking out 12 batters. Jake Schumacher contributed two innings in relief, surrendering one earned run on four hits and striking out three batters.
 
Texas Lutheran jumped out to an early lead in the first inning a two-run homer and another solo shot, establishing a 3-0 advantage over ETBU.
 
In the second inning, the Tigers responded. Boone walked and was driven home by Tewers' triple down the right field line, narrowing the score to 3-1.
 
The third inning saw Texas Lutheran extend its lead as they scored three more runs, bringing the score to 6-1. ETBU began its comeback in the fourth as Boone and Tewers each reached base, followed by Flannery's two-RBI single, reducing the deficit to 6-3.
 
An explosive sixth inning from the Tigers shifted the momentum. Nolen started with a solo home run, and Boone's single drove in another run. Flannery then hit a three-run homer to take the lead for good, 8-6. Livesay capped the inning with a three-run homer of his own, pushing ETBU ahead 11-6.
 
The seventh inning saw the Tigers adding two unearned runs. Boone scored on Costa's two-RBI single, pushing the lead to 13-6.
 
Texas Lutheran managed to score once more in the ninth inning through a RBI single, but the Tigers secured a 13-7 victory.
 
They will take on the College of Wooster in the night cap at Tiger Ballpark at Woods Field.
