MARSHALL, Texas – Collecting their highest score of the season, East Texas Baptist University posted 219.535 points in their final regular-season home meet of the year against no. 13 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. UMHB won the meet with 262.085 points.
It is the fourth meet this year in which ETBU has scored 200+ points as they continue to improve. They scored 205.81 vs. Texas Lutheran on Feb. 12, then 201.51 at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Feb. 16. On March 21, they posted 213.45 at Texas Lutheran, and then had 219.535 tonight vs. UMHB.
ETBU scored two 9.0+ scores tonight and had five 8.0+ scores. They started the meet with 27.45 points in the Compulsory Event, earning a 9.60 in the Pyramid Heat, with
Kilee Davis,
Maddie Lozano,
Brooke Silvertooth, Kate Cozart,
Emberlynn Dye, and Kera Ryne contributing to the score. ETUB also had an 8.80 in the Toss Heat.
The Acro Event brought 23.70 points with an 8.70 in the 5-Element. They posted a 26.60 in the Pyramid Event, starting with an 8.90 in the Inversion. The Synchronized Heat was the second 9.0+ score with a 9.1, and they finished with an 8.60 in the Open to trail at the half, 93.40 to 77.75.
It was another strong event for ETBU in the Toss with 24.35 points. The 450 Salto was an 8.25 followed by a 7.50 in the Synchronized. They followed with an 8.60 in the Open. Tumbling gave ETBU 41.675 points, as the Open Pass had the best score at 7.875.
ETBU ended the meet with 75.76 points in the Team Event, bringing its total to 219.535.
ETBU will host the NCATA Division III National Invite on April 9-11 at Ornelas Gym, competing for the title of the top Division III program.
