LONGVIEW, Texas – Not playing for 11 days, East Texas Baptist University blanked LeTourneau University, 7-0, for back-to-back shutouts moving to 9-6. It is their sixth shutout of the year.
ETBU started with the 1-0 lead in doubles taking all three matches.
Sam Black and
Max Karseno won at no. 1, 6-4, followed by a 6-3 win at no. 2 by
Mark Armbruster and
Erick Van Zyl.
Jacob Daniell and
Jaco Snyman then won the no. 3 match, 6-1.
Black and Snyman had two tiebreaking matches that they won for points. Black took the no. 1 singles match, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) and then Synman won the no. 2 mathc, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-2). The next three matches were won easily by ETBU as Armbruster won no. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1, Van Zyl took the No. 4 mathc, 6-4, 6-0, and
Baptiste Berthier won at no. 5, 6-1, 6-3. Karseno then held off his opponent, 6-2, 7-5, at no. 6.
ETBU starts ASC play on April 3, in Brownwood, Texas, against Howard Payne.
