MARSHALL, Texas – Battling for the top of the American Southwest Conference, East Texas Baptist University fell short of defeating the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 6-1, on senior day. ETBU is now 9-7 and 1-1 in the ASC.
UMHB took the doubles point, winning all three matches.
Monique Ybarra and
Isabella Macquet had the closest match, falling 7-5, at no. 1.
In singles, Ybarra earned the only point as she won the no. 1 match, 6-0, 6-0.
Fernanda Ruiz Burkart went to a tiebreak at no. 3, but lost 6-5, 6-7, 2-7.
ETBU will take on Hardin-Simmons University at a neutral court in Coppell, Texas, on Saturday, April 18, at 1:00 p.m. in the final regular season match.
