COPPELL, Texas – Coming down to tiebreaking matches in singles, East Texas Baptist University came away with just one of the wins falling to Hardin-Simmons University, 4-3, in the final American Southwest Conference women's tennis match. ETBU is now 9-8 and 1-2 in the ASC and will be the no. 3 seed in the ASC Tournament.
ETBU started the match with the doubles point winning all three matches.
Monique Ybarra and
Isabella Macquet took no. 1, 6-4.
Kristyn Dunn and
Jazmyne Ford-Schartner won at no. 2, 6-4, and Fernanda Ruiz-Burkart at no. 3, 6-2.
Ybarra gave ETBU another point at no. 1 with a 6-3, 6-4 win. Dunn then won the only tiebreaking match at no. 4, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5. Ruiz-Burkart fell at no. 3, 1-6, 7-5, 4-6 while Ford-Schartner lost at no. 5, 1-6, 6-2, 3-6, and
Amelia Anding at no. 6, 1-6, 7-5, 6-7 (0-7).
ETBU will next play in the ASC Tournament in Belton, Texas.
