#TIGERSWIN | BB | ETBU Sweeps UMHB in High Scoring Contest

MARSHALL, Texas — In two high-scoring matchups, East Texas Baptist University sweeps The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 6-5 and 12-8 on a Thursday matchup in the ASC. The Tigers tallied 20 hits in two games including three back to back to back home runs in the second game.

Game One
ETBU 6, UMHB 5

In a seven-inning game, East Texas Baptist University edged the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 6–5, securing the win with a walk off homerun by Carson Livesay in the bottom of the seventh inning. ETBU tallied three home runs among its five hits, while its pitchers combined for seven strikeouts over seven innings. UMHB kept the pressure on with three home runs of its own, but fell short with a final rally in the seventh inning.

Carson Livesay powered the offense with two home runs, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Raef Wright added to the scoring, recording two RBIs with a home run and crossing the plate once. Aiden Leonard made a strong relief appearance on the mound, striking out four over 2 1/3 innings and securing the win.

In the third inning, Juan Ortigoza drew a walk and advanced to second on Livesay's sacrifice bunt. Connor Massimini's single moved Ortigoza to third, and Carter Nannini's sacrifice fly brought him home, giving ETBU a 1–0 lead after three innings.

The fourth inning saw UMHB take the lead with a three-run homer. ETBU responded in the bottom half when Joaquin Costa walked and later scored on Wright's two-run homer. Nathan Harmon, hit by a pitch, was driven in by Livesay's two-run homer, putting ETBU ahead 5–3 through four innings.

In the fifth, Mary Hardin-Baylor recorded a solo home run, narrowing the gap to 5–4. ETBU maintained its lead after a scoreless sixth inning.

In the seventh inning, Mary Hardin-Baylor tied the game with a solo home run. However, ETBU quickly regained the lead when Livesay hit his second homer of the game, securing a 6–5 advantage.

ETBU held on to this one-run lead, concluding the game with a 6–5 victory over UMHB

Game Two 
ETBU 12, UMHB 8

ETBU secured a 12-8 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor (23-10, 4-1) in the second game of the doubleheader, powered by five home runs and 15 hits. ETBU built an early lead with six runs across the first two innings and maintained control despite a four-run fourth inning from UMHB.

Connor Massimini made a significant impact with two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Carter Nannini contributed with two hits and a home run, driving in two runs. Kahne Nolen showcased power at the plate with two home runs, adding two hits and two RBIs. Nathan Harmon led the team's offense with three hits, including a home run, while driving in three runs and scoring twice.

The game opened with a strong first inning for the Tigers as Massimini, Nannini, and Nolen each homered, driving in three runs to take an early 3-0 lead.

In the second inning, ETBU continued its offensive push. Juan Ortigoza singled and scored on Massimini's RBI single. Carson Livesay crossed the plate following a single by Nannini. A sacrifice fly by Jobee Boone brought in another run, putting the Tigers ahead 6-0.

UMHB fought back in the fourth inning, narrowing the gap with four runs. However, ETBU responded in the bottom of the inning as Nolen homered again. Harmon's single, coupled with an outfield error, allowed Raef Wright to score. Ortigoza followed with an RBI single, extending the lead to 9-4.

The fifth inning saw UMHB close in further with a three-run home run, cutting the Tigers' lead to 9-7. In the sixth, Harmon's two-run homer brought in Wright, pushing the lead to 11-7.

UMHB scored once more in the eighth inning, but the Tigers added an insurance run when Ortigoza singled home Wright, securing a 12-8 advantage. The final score stood at ETBU 12, UMHB 8.
