MARSHALL, Texas – In another offensive showing in an American Southwest Conference double header, East Texas Baptist University produced 28 runs on 29 hits with five home runs as they swept the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 12-4, and 16-13. ETBU moves to 26-10 and 8-0 in the ASC. ETBU has now produced 134 runs in their last 10 games averaging 13 runs per game.
Brody Tewers played in the final game hitting .667 with four hits, two home runs, one a grand slam, and six RBI to lead the team.
Joaquin Costa finished hitting .500 with a home run and two RBI and five hits.
Jobee Boone had four this with a three RBI and four runs scored as
Carson Livesay added four this, a home run, four runs scored, and four RBI.
Connor Massimini had four RBI on three hits.
Nathan Harmon,
Justin Flannery, and
Colby Wilson all had two hits and two RBI. Adding one RBI were
Juan Ortigoza, Phillip Orr, and
Raef Wright.
Isaac Thornton and
Matthew Irwin earned the wins. Thornton recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts in game one in eight innings of work and Irwin had two strikeouts in one inning in the final game to receive the win.
Game 1
ETBU 12, UMHB 4
With two home runs and 11 hits, ETBU scored in six of their eight innings for a decisive 12-4 win over UMHB. Costa led the way by scoring two runs, hitting three times, and registering a home run. Massimini contributed with four RBIs and added two hits. Harmon scored two runs, added a two-run homer, and drew two walks and Boone had two hits for one RBI. Flannery added two RBI and Wright and Ortigoza recorded one RBI.
Thornton delivered a strong performance, pitching eight innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out 12 batters. He retired the side in the first, third, seventh, and eighth innings putting down the first five batters of the game and the final six batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings.
Brayden Hodge came in for relief, pitching one inning and allowing one run on one hit, with a strikeout and a walk.
In the first inning, Livesay walked and later scored on Boone's RBI single, putting the Tigers ahead 1–0. The second inning had Ortigoza reach on an error and score on a single by Flannery, extending the lead to 2–0.
Mary Hardin-Baylor got on the board in the fifth inning with a home run, but the Tigers responded in the bottom half when
Kahne Nolen, after being hit by a pitch, scored on a single by Wright, bringing the score to 3–1.
UMHB hit a two-run homer in the sixth, while the Tigers' offensive efforts included a two-RBI single from Massimini, maintaining a lead of 5–3.
The seventh inning saw the Tigers widen their lead significantly. Costa and Boone both reached base, and Flannery had a sacrifice fly. Massimini capped the inning with a two-RBI single, pushing the lead to 9–3.
In the eighth inning, Costa homered, and Harmon followed with a two-run homer, increasing the lead to 12–3. UMHB managed one more run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly to make it 12-4

Game 2
ETBU 16, UMHB 13
Outlasting UMHB in a high-scoring affair to secure a 16–13 victory, ETBU powered through with an 11-run fourth inning that propelled them to the win and sweeping the series. ETBU had 18 hits, three home runs, four doubles, and 16 runs highlighted by the 11-run inning.
Livesay tallied three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Tewers delivered a strong performance with four hits and two home runs, collecting six RBIs. Boone added to the team's success with two hits and two RBIs.
Colby Wilson recorded two hits and drove in two runs as Costa had two hits and one RBI. Orr added one RBI, too.
Nolan Bushko started on the mound, pitching two innings, allowing two hits, two walks, and three runs, with an earned, while striking out three.
Declan Conry followed with an inning pitched, issuing one walk. Irwin contributed a strong performance with an inning of work, striking out two without allowing a hit or run, securing the win.
Anthony Tellez gave up five runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning.
Garrett Walker went 1.1 innings with two strikeouts, with two earned runs on two hits.
Brayden Hodge finished the ninth with one earned run on a hit.
Mary Hardin-Baylor took an early lead in the first inning scoring on a fielder's choice. ETBU responded in the second inning with Harmon walking and scoring on a groundout by Wilson. Tewers then scored when Livesay singled, tying the game at 2–2. Mary Hardin-Baylor had already added two runs on a triple, making it 3–2 in their favor by the end of the second inning.
The fourth inning was pivotal for the Tigers. Livesay homered, driving in two runs to start the scoring spree. Tewers followed with a grand slam, extending the lead to 9–3. Additional RBIs from Wilson and Costa helped push the score to 13–4 by the end of the inning.
In the sixth inning, Tewers hit his second homer of the game, a two-run shot, to further extend the lead to 16–4. Orr also contributed with an RBI single in the same inning.
Mary Hardin-Baylor rallied in the seventh inning with a grand slam, cutting the deficit to 16–10. They continued their push in the eighth and ninth, scoring three more runs, but ETBU maintained its lead for the three-run win, 16-13.
ETBU will host Howard Payne University in the final regular season weekend of the year in a four-game ASC series.
