Derek Alleman enters his third season as an assistant coach for Chris Lovell and will coach the ETBU developmental team. Alleman came to ETBU after serving as an assistant coach at Crescent City Christian School in Louisiana.
"We are so blessed to have Derek Alleman join our University here at East Texas Baptist. We've been friends for years and Derek worked for me at Bossier Parish Community College as one of my assistants for a year," says head coach
Chris Lovell. "Derek first and foremost loves the Lord and views coaching as a way to disciple and invest in young men. He will bring great experience to our staff from the JUCO, High School, and AAU levels. He is well connected in recruiting circles and is very skilled in identifying and evaluating talent. Our developmental team will thrive under Derek's leadership as he will develop players and make our overall basketball program stronger."
Alleman brings coaching stops from the high school and junior college level to ETBU. In 2019-20, he was a part of the coaching staff at Crescent City Christian School that led the team to the Louisiana Division State championship. Prior to Crescent City, he was on ETBU Head Coach
Chris Lovell's staff at Bossier Parish Community College as the Cavaliers reached the NJCAA nation's top 25 for the first time in 20 seasons. He also would send six guys onto scholarship schools at the NCAA Division I and NAIA levels. He has also coached at Albany High School (2012-13), Christian Home Educators Fellowship High School (2013-15), and The Church Academy (2017-18). At the AAU level, he has coached the Mardi Gras Gators, Team Shockaz, and Louisiana Supreme 16U.
Derek recently received his Master's of Arts Degree in Teaching from Nicholls State University in May of 2022. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2011. He went to high school at Live Oak High School in Denham Springs, La.
