MARSHALL, Texas – A two-home run game plus seven strong innings by the starting pitcher gave the East Texas Baptist University baseball team a 10-1 win over Schreiner University. This increases ETBU's winning streak to five games and ups their record to 6-1.

For ETBU, Conner Combs led the way with two home runs and seven RBIs. Kameron Sumrall had a team high four hits and one RBI while Zach Compton would also have two hits, two RBIs, and scored three runs. On the mound, Ernest Perez went seven strong innings allowing one run on six hits, eight strikeouts, and one walk to earn the win. Chad Boudreaux would shut the door on Schreiner as he pitched two shutout innings giving up two hits and striking out three batters.

Neither team would score until the top of the second when the Mountaineers took the lead on an RBI double. Following a triple by Sumrall in the bottom half of the inning, Combs would drive him in despite grounding out to short to tie the game. One inning later, Compton would drive in a run to make it 2-1 before Combs would launch a three-run homer to make it 5-1 ETBU after three innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, Combs would again deliver a three-run bomb to make it 8-1 in ETBU's favor. The sixth inning would see ETBU get two more runs on an RBI triple by Compton and an RBI double Sumrall. Perez left the game after the seventh inning and Boudreaux would come in to pitch complete eighth and ninth innings to seal the win.

ETBU will play a double-header tomorrow with a seven inning game one at 1:00 pm and a nine inning game two at 3:00 pm.
