Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Following a close loss to #16 Centenary College on Friday night, the bats were unable to contribute on Saturday as the East Texas Baptist University baseball team dropped the double header to the Gents 5-1, and 8-1. ETBU is now 16-11 on the season.

ETBU dropped the first game by a score of 5-1. Dylan Sumpter led the way with two hits while Dynas Doud, Conner Combs, Josh Warbington, Casey Combs, and Jaxon Rader each had a hit as well. Ashley Dukes took the loss with four innings of work allowing five runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out one. Chad Boudreaux went four innings allowing three hits and one strikeout.

Centenary would continue their momentum as they would pick up eight more runs en route to an 8-1 win in game two. Tyler Bates and Mason Aldredge would be the only players with two hits that game while Casey Combs drove in the only RBI in the ninth inning. Cody Pierce took the loss by going 4.1 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits. Jimmy Russo went 2.2 innings in in which he allowed a run on two hits while striking out two batters while Logan Sprinkle pitched a scoreless inning striking out one.

Game 1 – Centenary 5, ETBU 1

After a scoreless first inning, Centenary got on the board with two runs in the second on an RBI single. ETBU would get their only run in the third inning on a groundout by Doud, which was followed by an error that allowed Sumpter to score. But the Gents would answer with a two-run triple in the fourth and a groundout to score three runs and make it 5-1. ETBU had two innings to try and score runs in the sixth and ninth inning. But they were unable to deliver as the Gents closed them out in the first game of the day.

Game 2 – Centenary 8, ETBU 1

Centenary jumped on ETBU with five runs in the first two innings. They scored a run in the first on a sacrifice fly. Then they put up four runs in the second on a single, double, and an RBI groundout. Two more runs for the Gents came in the fifth on a fielder's choice and a squeeze play. The Gents would add their eighth run on a single. ETBU had chances to score in the later innings, but it wouldn't be until the ninth when they would break the shutout.

ETBU returns home for a three-game series against LeTourneau next weekend on Friday at 7:00 pm and a double header Saturday at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
