@ETBU_Hockey Clutch in Overtime 6-5 Over Dallas Baptist

SHREVEPORT, La.– It was another exciting and thrilling game that went beyond sixty minutes as the East Texas Baptist University hockey team came away with a 6-5 overtime win over the Dallas Baptist University Patriots. ETBU has won six games in a row and has a record of 9-3 completing their third straight sweep. ETBU has swept Texas Christian University, North Texas, and DBU.

ETBU started the game by applying pressure to DBU from the start as they kept the puck in DBU's end of the rink. Their patience was rewarded when Mike Garvie capitalized on a power play to make it 1-0. Unfortunately, DBU answered back with a power play goal of their own by Jeremy Fortner to tie it at one.

The second period was a wild-and-crazy affair as both teams combined to score six goals. DBU struck first when a costly ETBU mistake led to a Patrick Lee goal. But in a span of three minutes, the Tigers answered with three unanswered goals on a couple of penalties by DBU. Skyler Spiller scored first before seventy-one seconds went by for Dylan LeGarie to give ETBU a 3-2 lead. Exactly one minute later, Garvie gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead. Unfortunately, ETBU would commit a couple of penalties that allowed the Patriots to tie the game at four on goals by Spencer Erickson and Trenton Lee. ETBU had a couple of chances for the lead, but were unsuccessful as a 4-4 tie after two was all they could afford.

The third period had DBU take the lead on a goal by Spencer Erickson on a power play goal. But Garvie completed a hat trick to tie the score at five. Both teams had chances to win, but couldn't get it and the game went into overtime.

It took seventy-three seconds before the Tigers came away with the overtime winner. This time, it was Riley Knott who got the goal and preserved ETBU's six-game winning streak.

ETBU will be back in action when they travel to Columbus, Georgia in two weeks to take on the Auburn University Tigers.
