#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Hockey Takes Down Big 5 Conference Member Auburn

COLUMBUS, Georgia – Continuing their winning streak, which stands at eight games now, the East Texas Baptist University ice hockey team swept the Auburn University Tigers by outscoring them, 13-6 in the two games. Game one saw ETBU use a five-goal third period to overtake Auburn, 8-3, while game two was a, 5-3, triumph thanks to a four-goal second period.

Game 1: ETBU 8, UA 3
Sixty-one seconds into the game, Auburn struck first on a goal by Parker Brown. But ETBU would answer on a goal from Skyler Spiller five minutes later. Another eight minutes went by before Seth Baylis made it 2-1 in Auburn's favor after one period. In the second period, Mike Garvie tied the score on an assist by Riley Knott. After Auburn's Adam Kalson gave his team a 3-2 lead, Knott would score with just thirteen seconds left in the period to tie it 3-3.

This would be the turning point as ETBU would tally five goals in the third period. First, it was Albert Wiggins who made it 4-3 four minutes in. Then, Spiller tallied his second goal to give ETBU a two-goal cushion. But the second half of the third period was all captain Carson Combs who tallied a hat trick in the 10:16, 14:42, and 16:50 marks, which gave ETBU an 8-3 win.

Game 2: ETBU 5, UA 3
The first period was all Auburn as they took a 2-0 lead on goals by Joseph Richard and Matthew Darnell. But in the second period, ETBU would suddenly emerge as Jimmy Brosnan would tie up the game with two straight goals in a span of eight seconds. Thirteen minutes later, Wiggins gave ETBU a 3-2 lead. Knott would then find the net for ETBU's fourth goal of the period. Auburn would cut the lead to one on a second goal by Richard.

In the third period, both goaltenders of Nick Bozzuto and Mitch Kestner kept the puck out of the net for nineteen minutes. ETBU would finally get the victory when Knott would sneak one by for a 5-3 win.

ETBU will next be in action in Richardson, Texas when they take on SMU on Friday, November 10th at 3:00 PM and on Saturday, November 11th at 8:00 PM.
