SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Sending the seniors out on the right note, ETBU's offense tallied 10 goals in a 10-2 rout of Southern Methodist University to complete the series sweep.
Nearly halfway through the first period,
Riley Knott (9:41) would score for a 1-0 lead. Knott would then pick up his second goal of the game at 11:58 to lead 2-0. With seven seconds left in the first, ETBU would score on a five-on-three power play from
Albert Wiggins and ETBU took a 3-0 lead after one period.
The second period saw ETBU tally five goals, which started when Knott (5:29) picked up his hat trick for the second game in row and a 4-0 lead. Moments later,
Josh Herron made it 5-0 with a slap shot at 9:03. Then,
Skyler Spiller scored on a breakaway to make it 6-0 (13:24).
Brendan Sedgwick (14:07) tallied the seventh goal before
Drake Evans made it 8-0 (17:33) after two periods.
SMU would eventually score from Will Braught just 2:09 into the third period. But Sedgwick answered with his second goal (11:59) for a 9-1 lead. William Kuwalski (12:16) would get the second Mustangs goal to make it 9-2. Sedgwick would then tally a hat trick of his own (17:15) to give ETBU a 10-2 margin for the final goal of the season.
ETBU finishes the season 16-6 overall for their second straight winning season in program history.
