MARSHALL, Texas – After starting their season 2-2 at the Centenary College Invitational, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team will head out to Georgetown, Texas, to compete in their first road series of the season against the Southwestern Pirates. ETBU will have three more in-region games facing their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference team.
In their previous four games, ETBU lost their two meetings against Whitworth by scores of 6-2 and 6-1. They picked up two wins by defeating Pacific in both their meetings, 5-4 and 3-1. In the 5-4 win,
John Marrs received the win in relief going two innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out three. KJ Miller had the walkoff RBI for the win in the ninth inning. The next night in ETBU's 3-1 win, Zackary Pierce picked up the win going 6.1 innings allowing one run on five hits and struck out three while
Derrick Findley received the save. He went the final 2.2 innings striking out two batters.
Jeremy Bateman also had two RBI.
ETBU will now head out to Georgetown, Texas for a three-game series against Southwestern. Last season, ETBU took one of three games from the Pirates in Marshall, Texas, winning 14-2 while losing the next two games by scores of 11-7 and 9-8. This will be the first game of the season for the Pirates.
Game one will start Friday at 6:00 PM while Saturday's doubleheader will be at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
