MARSHALL, Texas – Coming back from their Tiger Athletic Mission Experience from Slovakia, the East Texas Baptist University hockey team returns to action this weekend starting their final six games of the regular season at George's Pond in Shreveport, La. ETBU hosts the University of Auburn on Friday and Saturday.
ETBU's last played against Texas A&M on the weekend of November 30
th-December 1
st. The Tigers came away with a split winning 7-4 in the first game while dropping the second game 8-5. Game one would see a hat-trick performance from
Skyler Spiller while both
Riley Knott and Davis VanGemerden scored two goals apiece. VanGemerden also had a two goal game in the second game along with
Michael Garvie.
With a record of 8-10, ETBU is currently second in the North Division of the TCHC League with a 7-3 record. They find themselves behind Dallas Baptist University, who is first at 7-1. Garvie leads the team in points with 47 as he is first in assists (26) and second in goals (21). Knott leads the team in goals scored with 22 to go with 18 assists for 40 total points. In goal,
Tyler Fitzgerald has won half of ETBU's eight games while allowing 26 goals.
Alex Domas has a goals against average of 3.23 while Nicholas Bozzuto makes 88.7% of his saves allowing 30 goals on 266 shots.
It will be a battle of Tigers this weekend as ETBU hosts Auburn. Last season saw ETBU sweep Auburn in Columbus, Ga., by scores of 8-3 and 5-3. Auburn's top point leader is Chandler Brown, who has scored 10 goals and collected nine assists for a team-high 19 points. Jack Driggs is second in points with13 (five goals, eight assists) while Steven Verrone currently owns third with 12 points as he has six goals and six assists.
The puck will drop at 7:00 PM on Friday night while Saturday starts at 2:00 PM.
