#TIGERSWIN | @ETBU_Hockey Improves to 10-0 Sweeping TCU

MANSFIELD, Texas - Equaling their longest winning streak in program history, the East Texas Baptist University men's hockey team ran their streak to 10 games sweeping Texas Christian University, 4-1, and 7-0. ETBU is now 10-0 on the year.

ETBU would come within seven seconds of posting a shutout in the first game as they took a 4-1 victory. Riley Knott recorded two goals while Tyler Fitzgerald (nine saves) and Alex Domas (14 saves) combined for 23 saves on 24 shots faced. Ryan Gruskza (assists) and Albert Wiggins would also score goals in the win while Davis Van Gemerden had an assist.

On Saturday, the Tigers blanked TCU, 7-0. Knott would lead the surge with a hat trick performance while Gruszka, Timothy Zittel, Van Gemerden, and Nick Scott would each score. Both Domas and Nick Buzzuto teamed up for 24 saves to preserve the shutout.

Game 1: ETBU 4, TCU 1

The Tigers wasted no time scoring first just forty-seven seconds into the game as Gruszka brought lead, 1-0. A few minutes of defensive hockey would lead to a power play goal by Knott (4:38) for a 2-0 lead. The next ten minutes brought more hard hits and defense for ETBU as they outshot TCU, 22-3, in the first period, which included the second Knott goal (12:17).

The lead stayed 3-0 through the second period and most of the third period as with both teams killing vital power plays. TCU would better their defensive and create some offense taking 22 shots but the Tigers would get a power play goal from Wiggins (18:10) to make it 4-0. Only a last minute goal from TCU with seven seconds to go prevented a shutout by ETBU.

The second period would be intense as ETBU would up their lead to 5-0 with four goals. Zittel would score in the first minute.
