ALLEN, Texas - Tested throughout their weekend series, the East Texas Baptist University hockey team passed both times to complete a sweep of Dallas Baptist University and remain unbeaten on the season at 17-0. The two wins help ETBU stay above the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference as the top team.

Game one saw ETBU go from a 2-2 tie after the first period to a 5-2 victory.
Riley Knott led with two goals while
Timothy Zittel,
Nick Scott, and

Game 1: ETBU 5, DBU 2
Five minutes into the game, Zittel (15:05) would put ETBU on the board with an assist from
Alec Shea. The Patriots would get even at 7:28 only to see Scott push ETBU ahead 2-1 with 3:44 to go in the first period. Yet, the Patriots would knot the score at two apiece with 49 seconds to play as both teams went into the first intermission.
Â
The second period started with both teams battling to a standstill. But nearly halfway through the period, Knott (10:53) found the net for his first of the game as ETBU would take a 3-2 lead. A little over three minutes later, VanGemerden would connect for his first goal of the game to extend the lead before Knott (4:59) would make it 5-2. This lead would hold up for the remainder of the game as ETBU's defense prevented any goals from the Patriots.
Â
Game 2: ETBU 7, DBU 4
The first period was mostly a defensive battle as neither side could break through the goaltenders. While trying to kill off a penalty, ETBU would get a short-handed goal from Knott with 1:17 to play for the only goal of the first period. It seemed like ETBU would have control of the game as VanGemerden scored just 86 seconds into the second period. The Patriots stole momentum with four unanswered goals, including two power play goals, to give them a 4-2 lead after two periods.
Â
DBU kept the Tigers off the board early in the third period until Spiller (12:52) cut the lead to 4-3. The Patriots worked to keep their lead for the next five minutes. Then, in a span of 163 seconds, ETBU would score three goals from Zittel (6:10) and VanGemerden (5:20, 3:23) for a 6-4 lead. Duncan would seal the win as his goal occurred with 1:04 to go.
