The East Texas Baptist University Tennis Teams departed Texas on Thursday for their Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) trip to Paris, France, where they will partner with International Sports Federation (ISF) and Youth with a Mission (YWAM). The day one recap comes from Assistant Coach Drew Lambert

The first day of our Paris trip was filled with the expected highs and lows of international travel. Everyone was thrilled for the ensuing adventures to be had in Paris. With many of the students and coaches never having traveled outside the continental U.S., the promise of an amazing experience in France filled all of our hearts with a Christmas like anticipation. The first task however was getting over jet lag…

As we arrived in the country of France, seeing the amazing chaos that is the "autoroute" put driving environments like Dallas and Houston to shame. Arriving in the narrow streets of Aubervillier, we were thrilled to meet those members of Youth with a Mission. This passionate group of faithful servants would become our mission community, as well as our bunkmates.

After taking some much-needed R&R from our multiple hour flights, we walked to have dinner with the entire YWAM Paris team. The smiles and warm greetings we received were as if we came home for the holidays. More than anything this group empathized with our state of existence from the long day of travel. However, their shining spirits bled into ours as they awakened our willing hearts for the opportunities for faith building in the upcoming week.

We were asked to give an example of what each individual was expecting from the coming week in Paris. Several members of our group eluded to growing in willingness and as a team in Christ. Dr. Seeley and Lori Bramlett both plan to observe and share in the lessons that our young students will learn on mission. I believe that my biggest hope for this trip is become ever willing to be the "light."  I hope to have my heart broken for the betterment of the Lord's kingdom and to help the people of France in their faith and their personal life.
