Today we went to the French Open in Paris, France. We woke up and completed chores around the YWAM base, where we have been staying. There were different jobs like washing dishes, sweeping, and my job was mopping the floors. After the chores were done, we went to the YWAM base for our morning worship. This part of the day was amazing, as it was such a good way to start the day. The way the other students and leaders of the base worshipped was unlike anything I have ever seen. It was just so contagious and I could feel God's presence in the room from the very beginning. Everyone in the room was so engaged and desperate for more, I could not help but stand in awe of the entire scene. After about an hour and a half of worship, we got into our vans and headed for the French Open site.
As we first got there and got through security, all I could see was pro players and tennis fans. It was like the best place on Earth for a tennis lover. The first court we went to was one of the junior players in the tournament and even he was someone none of us could touch. The level of play was insane to put it shortly and have never seen anything like it. We watched the guy play for a while and then we checked the practice courts to see if any pro players were using them. Unfortunately, none of the big names were there today; however, we did see Tommy Haas, the former #2 player in the world. Even at his retired age he was still playing so well. We also watched James Blake practice, a former pro player from America.
On the main courts, we were able to personally watch some extremely high-level women's doubles match. It was astounding to see such high-level players, easily the best tennis I have ever seen in my entire life. As far as the men's tennis goes, the #1 player in the world was playing today, but all we could do was watch him on the big screen in front of the stadium court. The #3 player in the world was also playing, so it was not a bad day to go to the tournament by any means . The only person we wished we could see was Rafael Nadal, who is the greatest player to ever play in that tournament. That would have been life changing to see, but regardless it was honestly one of the best days of my life. We stayed around the tournament site for around seven hours, so we all were exhausted at the end of the day. After we left the site, we went back to the YWAM base to eat dinner, and that was the end of our day.
