#TIGERSWIN | @ETBU_Hockey Stays Perfect Sweeping DBU

IRVING, Texas - In their second series of this season, the East Texas Baptist University hockey team swept the Dallas Baptist University Patriots improving to 4-0 on the year. Much like the first series against TCU, this series saw a dominant game one and a hard-fought game two win.

Game one was complete dominance by ETBU as they poured in six goals for the five-goal victory, 6-1. Riley Knott led ETBU with two goals while Ryan Gruszka, Matt Duncan, Davis Van Gemerden and Timothy Zittel each scored a goal

Saturday's game saw a bit of deja vu as for the second week in a row. ETBU trailed 4-2 after two periods only to rally with five goals in the third period to secure a 7-5 victory. They were led by a hat-trick performance from Carson Loos, who also contributed an assist. Gruszka contributed two goals in the game.

Game 1: ETBU 6, DBU 1

For most of the first period, ETBU and DBU would be locked in a scoreless affair. Fortunately, ETBU struck first with a power play from Gruszka to grab the early 1-0 lead. The Patriots would respond with the tying goal that ended the first period, but Knott would give ETBU the lead for good in the second period with their second power play goal.

Four goals in the third period from the Tigers would carry them to the victory as Duncan started off the scoring spree. Knott followed with his second of the game and then Van Gemerden made it 5-1. Zittel then finished the night scoring ETBU's final goal.

The Tigers would cut the lead to one when Loos scored on the rebound only for DBU to increase their lead to 4-2 after two periods.

Just 11 seconds into the start of the third period, ETBU cut the lead to one as Gruszka converted his second goal of the game. Then, Loos tied up the score at four (13:58) on a power play goal. Although DBU would get the lead back just 35 seconds later, ETBU would not back down as it would be Loos who scored the next two goals (10:41, 3:20) to record his hat-trick and give ETBU the 6-5 lead.
