Game 1: MU 5, ETBU 2
Neither side would score in the first period as they combined to kill off four power plays. The goals would come in the second period as ETBU started things off with two goals from Soderstrom (13:05) and Zittel (9:18). However, the momentum swung in MU's favor as they rallied for two goals to equal the game at two entering the final period.
The third period was a decider as ETBU could not connect on four power play attempts. Meanwhile, the Saints were able to score three times, including an empty netter to ice the win for MU.
Game 2: MU 4, ETBU 2
The first period was much like the game before when both teams would keep each other off the scoresheet. However, ETBU failed to score on two power play attempts while the Saints broke through with 40 seconds to go in the period. ETBU was able to tie the game just 47 seconds in on a power play goal from Goudreau.
The Saints, however, would up the lead to 3-1 before the second intermission. ETBU did cut the lead to 3-2 on a power play goal from Guntow (9:38). But the Saints would extend the lead to two and would hold off any final chances for the Tigers to come back.
ETBU will be back at Hirsch Coliseum on October 8-9. They will battle with TCU at 10:30 PM on Friday night and 2:00 PM on Saturday.
