SHREVEPORT, La. - Dominating on all phases of the game, the East Texas Baptist University hockey team tallied 25 goals in the two-game series sweep of Texas Christian University at George's Pond improving to 7-2. ETBU blanked the Horned Frogs 11-0 in the first game and were led by two-goal scorers in Timothy Zittel and Filip Soderstrom. In the second game, Caleb Goudreau and Trevor Begley scored hat tricks as the Tigers guided their way to a 14-2 victory. Nick Buzzuto earned two wins in net with a shutout in the first game.Â

Game 1: ETBU 11, TCU 0
In a span of a minute and a half in the first period,
ETBU would score three goals from
Zittel (15:05),
Dimitri Sergeev (13:55), and Caleb
Kerns (13:36) to build an early 3-0 lead.
Zittel then made it 4-0 with 4:33 to go in the period.
ETBU then added four more goals in the second period as Jason
Guntow (14:35), Trevor
Begley (11:20),
Carson Loos (6:31), and Dominic
Desjardins (1:33) put
ETBU ahead 8-0 after two.
The third period saw three more goals from
ETBU.
Filip Soderstrom scored twice (17:05, 11:26) while
Spencer Mills tallied his first goal on the power play at 11:58.
Bozzuto would face a few more shots by the Horned Frogs, but made big saves to preserve the shutout.Â

Game 2: ETBU 14, TCU 2
It would take nearly nine minutes before the Tigers got on the board first with a goal from
Desjardins (11:26). However, in the final five minutes of the period,
ETBU scored four times to lead 5-0 after one.
Goudreau scored a power play (4:40) and a short-handed goal (19:37) while Emery (3:02) and
Begley (2:29) added to the total.Â
ETBU then tallied seven goals in the period as
Goudreau scored his hat trick (1:55), while
Begley (18:57),
Avery Cook (8:53), Mitchell
Dolese (8:35),
Matt Duncan (6:29),
Soderstrom (4:34), and
Guntow (1:01) each added their own goals. TCU finally broke the shutout in the second period to trail 12-1 after two.
Begley scored his hat trick in the third period (1:46) and
Jason Moore (5:01) would get his first for the series while TCU added a second goal for the final total of 14-2.
ETBU will hit the road to College Station, Texas next weekend to battle with Texas A&M. Both games will start at 7:00 PM.
