MARSHALL, Texas – Sweeping the University of the Ozarks this past weekend, the #4 East Texas Baptist University softball team added another pair of American Southwest Conference weekly awards for the season. Preslye Cox and Tristen Maddox swept the awards for ASC Pitcher and Hitter of the Week.

Earning her second career ASC Pitcher of the Week award, Cox would pick up two wins, including one in relief. With her team down 6-2 in the second game of the series, she came in and pitched 4.1 scoreless innings of relief striking out three batters as ETBU rallied back to win 14-6. She was then given the start in the third game and recorded a five inning, two-hit shutout with three strikeouts in the 9-0 victory.

Maddox batted .500 for the series with six hits in 12 at-bats and five RBI. After a 2-for-4 game one where she had three stolen bases, she drove in three RBI on a double and home run in the second game of the series. She followed that with a two-RBI game three recording a triple as well. This is her first weekly award.

ETBU is back home this weekend for their series against Belhaven University. Friday night's doubleheader will start at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM while Saturday will begin at 12:00 PM.
