BATESVILLE, Ark. – Scoring 23 runs with 25 hits in a double header sweep in Arkansas, no. 10/22 East Texas Baptist University faced off against Lyon College for the first time in program history. ETBU won game one, 15-2, and then shutout Lyon College, 8-0, in game two. ETBU is now 11-7 and won eight games in a row.
Of the 25 hits, ETBU had 14 that were for extra base hits including 10 doubles and two home runs.
Luke Bumpus had three doubles and
William Howard produced three doubles and a triple.
Hunter Rumachik and
Nicolas Chavez both homered.
Matthew Irwin earned his fourth win of the year in game one with five strikeouts and as
Landry Powell gained the win in game two with four strikeout. On the day, ETBU produced 19 strikeouts.

ETBU scored in six of the seven innings including an eight run seventh inning for the 15-2 win. Howard went 4-of-5 with one RBI but had three doubles and a triple. Bumpas followed with a 3-of-5 performance for three RBI including two doubles.
Carson Livesay,
Hunter Rumachik,
Ben Lea, and
Dylan Burnaman all had two hits.
Connor Massimini tripled and recorded two RBI as Chavez homered for two RBI.
Luke Finn, Livesay, Rumachik, and Burnaman all had one RBI.
Erwin went six of the seven innings for the win recording five strikeouts allowing just three hits and one earned run. He retired the side in the second, fifth, and sixth innings.
Ethan Brister finished the seventh inning and had one strikeout in four batters faced.

Pitching the third shutout of the year for ETBU was
Matthew Krall,
Landry Powell,
Jagger Neely, and
Jackson Jones. The four pitchers allowed just two hits with a combined 13 strikeouts. Krall started the game going four of the nine innings allowing just one hit with four strikeouts. Powell followed for two innings for the win with one hit and four strikeouts. Neely worked the seventh retiring the side with two strikeouts. Jones then went the final two innings recording three strikeouts and not hits retiring the side in both innings.
Lea went 3-of-5 with one RBI as Rumachik, Bumpas, Howard, and Burnaman all had a hit. Rumachik and Bumpas both added a RBI.
Five of ETBU's eight runs came on errors. Rumachik singled in the first run in the first inning and Lea made it 4-0 in the second inning on a single. Bumpas added the final RBI with a sacrifice fly.
ETBU will play the final game on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
