KERRVILLE, Texas — A strong second half led East Texas Baptist University to a 5-2 victory over Schreiner University in men's soccer on Saturday. ETBU broke open the game in the second half after a one-goal lead, 3-2, at the half and is now 3-3-0 on the year.
Lars Clark opened the scoring in the 26th minute off an assist from
Joshua Daley. After Schreiner answered,
Lucas Arreguin quickly put the Tigers back in front in the 28th minute. The Mountaineers evened the match again before Abdulaqader Majid regained the lead for ETBU just before halftime, making it 3-2.
The Tigers (3-3) extended their advantage in the second half with a 50th-minute goal from
Luke Hunsinger, assisted by Daley, before Clark netted his second goal of the match in the 89th minute to close out the win.
ETBU finished with 14 shots, nine on goal as Clark had three shots on goal. Joshua Daly and
Abdulqader Majid both had two shots. Goalkeeper
Ryan Lord tallied two saves and kept Schreiner scoreless after halftime.
The Tigers return home Thursday, Sept. 18, to host Austin College at 7:30 p.m. at Cornish Field.
