@ETBU_AcroTumb Improves at Limestone College

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Traveling to the East Coast for their first road trip of the year, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics & tumbling team came up short of victory against Limestone College, 253.43 to 190.18. ETBU is now 0-2 on the year and will face first-year program Belmont Abbey College on Friday night in North Carolina.

ETBU had a great first event scoring 27.70 points in the Compulsory and trailed Limestone by just nine points (36.40). They scored an 8.50 in the Toss event as their best event. They then added another 20.60 points in the Acro event with at 7.15 in the 5 element event. After two events, ETBU trailed Limestone, 63.75-48.30.

Making up some ground in the pyramid event, ETBU almost over took Limestone scoring 23.45 points to the Saints' 24.85. In the Open (heat 3), ETBU scored an 8.55 and then also had an 8.10 in the Inversion. ETBU had the better score than Limestone in the Open event.

The Toss Event was also close as ETBU was edged out, 26.20 to 23.00. In the Open, ETBU had a 7.80 and then posted a 7.55 in the 450 Salto (heat 1). In the Synchronized (heat 2), ETBU finished with a 7.65.

It was the tumbling and team events that were the difference as ETBU was outscored 42 points. ETBU scored a 36.025 in the tumbling with their best score of 7.725 in the Aerial Pass. ETBU then finished with 59.41 points in the team event for a total of 190.18.

ETBU heads to North Carolina on Friday for a meet against Belmont-Abbey College at 6:00 p.m. central time.
