PREVIEW: @ETBU_AcroTumb Traveling to West Virginia

MARSHALL, Texas – For their final road trip of the year, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team is traveling to West Virginia to face two NCAA Division II programs in Davis and Elkins College and Alderson Broaddus College. ETBU is 1-3 on the year after winning their first-ever meet against Belmont Abbey College three weeks ago.

On Thursday, ETBU will face Davis and Elkins College who is 0-4 on the year. They are in their second year of the program and went 0-5 last year. This year Davis and Elkins closest meet was a 217-209 loss to Concordia-Wisconsin. On March 10, they fell to Limestone College, 254-216.

ETBU will then travel to Phillipi, WV, on Saturday and take on Alderson Broaddus College who is 2-3 on the year. Alderson Broaddus College is in their sixth year of acrobatics and tumbling and has won two of their last meets. They are coming off a 276.56-267-42 loss to Converse College.

ETBU made history three weeks ago with their win over Belmont Abbey College, 197.81-126.90. ETBU held a 25.30 to 21.90 edge over Belmont-Abbey after the Compulsory event. The best score for ETBU was a 7.35 in the toss heat. Belmont-Abbey made some strides in points as they came out ahead of ETBU in the Acro event, 22.45 to 22.05. ETBU had 7.0 or higher in all three events.

Belmont-Abbey finished a point ahead of ETBU in the Pyramid event with a 24.40 to ETBU's 23.65. ETBU earned an 8.55 in the Open event of Heat three. ETBU made up the close ground by scoring a 22.20 in the toss event to Belmont-Abbey's 20.75. ETBU had an 8.05 in Heat one of the 450 Salto. ETBU edged out Belmont-Abbey in the Tumbling event, 39.20 to 37.40, to stay ahead in the standings. An 8.80 was scored in the Open Pass as ETBU's top score of the night.

ETBU then sealed the win with a 65.41 in the team event. Belmont-Abbey didn't compete and earn points.

The first meet takes place on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. central time at Davis and Elkins.
