MARSHALL, Texas – Coming back home after being on the road since the end of February, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team came up short of a win against Concordia University-Wisconsin, 224.795-207.580. ETBU is now 1-6 overall.
After the compulsory event, ETBU was trailing by just a point to CUW, 28.40-27.40. ETBU scored a 9.10 in the toss heat for their best individual score of the day and had a 6.60 in the tumbling heat. CUW moved five points ahead of ETBU after the acro event as they scored 26.55 points to ETBU's 22.80. ETBU recorded an 8.70 in the 6 element event. ETBU stayed close in the pyramid heat scoring 24.10 points to CUW's 27.85. ETBU had a 7.80 in the inversion, 7.70 in the synchronized, and 8.60 in the open.
ETBU tied CUW in the toss event with 24.30 points each. ETBU had an 8.00 in the 450 Salto, 8.30 in the synchronized, and an 8.00 in the open. In the tumbling event, CUW scored 39.23 points to ETBU's 35.10. ETBU's top score was a 7.60 in the open pass. In the final team event, CUW came away with 78.47 points to ETBU's 73.88 points to win the meet by 17 points.
ETBU will finish their season on Friday, March 29, vs. Converse College at 7:00 p.m. in Ornelas Gym.
