@ETBU_AcroTumb Come Up Short in Season Opener

MARSHALL, Texas – Competing in their season opener in Ornelas Gym, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team came up short against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 234.3-209.9. ETBU's next meet will be in Mequon, WI, on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. against Concordia-Wisconsin.

ETBU started off the meet in front with a 33.55-30.95 lead after the compulsory event. They posted scores of 7.95 in the acro heat, 8.35 in the pyramid heat, 9.00 in the toss heat, and 8.25 in the tumbling heat.
 
UMHB would grab the lead after the second event of acro with a 25.35 performance while ETBU recorded 16.35. ETBU started off the event with an 8.00 in the 5-element and then recorded a 6.65 in the 6-element. It was the 7-element event that was the difference as ETBU's score fell after that. ETBU would take the inversion heat in the pyramid event with a 9.25, UMHB still came away with a 25.80-24.45 lead posting an, 82.10-74.35, halftime lead.
 
The toss event started out strong for ETBU with an 8.10 in the 450 Salto. UMHB, though, posted two better scores in the synchronized and open heats to win the event, 22.90-28.55.
 
The tumbling became ETBU's biggest event as they came away with the win, 42.400 to 42.025. The open pass was the top heat with an 8.675. UMHB was 13 points better in the team event, 87.31-74.67, as they took the meet, 234.335-209.970.
 
ETBU will travel north to Wisconsin for their next meet in March.
