MARSHALL, Texas – In their first home meet since 2019, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team came up short of a win against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. UMHB scored 259.54 points to ETBU's 231.03 points. ETBU is now 0-2 on the year.
The meet started out close as UMHB scored 36.95 in the compulsory to ETBU's 35.70. ETBU had a 9.65 in the toss heat and a 9.6 in the pyramid heat as their best scores. UMHB then edged out ETBU in the acro event, 27.15-25.90. ETBU had a 9.05 in heat three which is the open. In the final category (pyramid) before halftime, once again UMHB pulled out ahead of ETBU, 28.3-26.25. At the half, UMHB held just a four-point advantage over ETBU, 92.40-88.25.
The toss event was just as close as the other events as UMHB held onto a slight lead, 25.5-23.85. Heat three (open) was ETBU's best score with an 8.75. It was in tumbling that UMHB pulled away from ETBU scoring 54.2 points to ETBU's 36.55. The open pass recorded the best score with an 8.85. The final event was the team event where UMHB scored a 92.89 to ETBU's 82.38 to claim the win.
ETBU will be back home again on Wednesday vs. Hawaii Pacific.
