@ETBU_AcroTumb Pushes ACU in Opening 2021 Meet

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Almost a year to the date when they last participated in a meet, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team faced off against Arizona Christian University. In their first meet, ETBU compiled the second most points in program history with 222.525 but fell to the Firestorm's 260.685.
 
ETBU started the meet earning 31.25 points in the compulsory. Their top event during that time was a 9.00 in the toss heat and an 8.70 in the pyramid heat. They recorded a 7.8 in the acro heat and a 5.75 in the tumbling heat. ACU finished with 36.45 points ahead 5.2 points ahead of ETBU.
 
The acro event was another close event as ACU just edged ETBU, 28.15 to 24.15. ETBU scored an 8.4 in heat one (5 element) and heat two (6 element). They finished the event with a7.35 in heat three (7 element). Headed into halftime, ETBU had their best event of the night in the pyramid coming in just 2.5 points behind ACU. ETBU scored a 23.60 to ACU's 26.10. The Tigers had an 8.50 in heat two (synchronized) and an 8.40 in heat three (open) as their two top scores in the event. ETBU trailed ACU by 11.7 points headed into the break, 90.7-79.0.
 
Scoring 23.85 points in the toss, heat one (450 Salto) had the top score with an 8.35. Heat three (open) brought ETBU an 8.15. ACU finished with 28.50 in the event. The tumbling event featured six elements as ETBU earned 40.375 points. Their best event was the open pass with a 9.20 along with an 8.10 in the aerial pass. ACU came away with 49.925 points to move ahead, 168.425-143.225.
 
The final event was the team event where ETBU scored a 79.3 to finish with 222.525. ACU came away with 91.56 points.
 
ETBU will next be in action on March 20 in Marshall, Texas, as they host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 6:00 p.m.
