MARSHALL, Texas – Participating in their third meet in 12 days and facing their second straight nationally ranked opponent, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team came up short against #2 Baylor University, 275.200-209.150. ETBU is now 0-4 on the year.
Putting together two of their best heats of the year together in the compulsory, ETBU had two 9-plus scores in the event. They scored a 9.25 in the Pyramid Heat and a 9.20 in the Toss Heat as they finished with 32.70 points. Baylor came away with on 10.00 in the event and a 37.90 score.
ETBU had an 8.87 in the 6 element as their top score in the Acro event compiling 24.45 points. Baylor posted two 10.00 and had 29.70 points to distance themselves away from ETBU. In the Pyramid event, ETBU scored 22.25 points and a 7.75 in the open. Baylor posted 29.45 points to go into halftime leading, 97.05-79.40.
Baylor continued to pull away in the Toss scoring 29.80 points and one 10.00 score. ETBU had an 8.20 in the open and compiled 21.85 points. ETBU scored 45.40 points in the tumbling event with an 8.275 in the Aerial Pass and an 8.30 in the Duo Pass. Baylor added 56.05 points as they head into the team event.
ETBU scored 62.50 points in the team event to finish with 209.15 while Baylor made 93.65 points for 275.200.
ETBU will finish their season on Tuesday, April 6, when they face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, at 6:00 p.m.
