MARSHALL, Texas – Hosting #1 Baylor University for the home opener, East Texas Baptist University scored 211.680 points to the Bears' 281.230 in Ornelas Gym. The 211.680 points were the most scored this season by ETBU as they are now 0-2 overall.
 
ETBU posted four scores with 9.0 or above in the meet in the Pyramid Heat of Compulsory (9.35), Toss Heat of Compulsory (9.50), 5 Element in the Acro Heat 1 (9.55), and a 9.90 in the Open (Heat 3) of the Pyramid.
 
Starting out in the Compulsory, ETBU scored 29.35 points earning two 9.0 or higher in two of the four events. They trailed Baylor by nine points after the event. In the Acro Event, ETBU was just behind Baylor in points, 29.55 to 25.95. ETBU started with a 9.55 in heat 1 (5 Element) from Brianna Brown, Addison Prather, and Jaiden Droddy. In the 6 Element they scored an 8.05 by Kennedy Brady, Berkley McDonald, and Aubrielle Lawson. The final heat was an 8.35 in the 7 Element from Brown, Prather, and Hannah Hicks.
 
Just before the half, ETBU scored 24.05 points to Baylor's 29.90 points in the Pyramid Event. Their best score came in the Open (Heat 3) with a 9.90 from Brown, Brady, Mary Kalafatis, Rebecca Kalafatis, Hicks, Droddy, Hannah Grace Moock, and Daphne Thomas. ETBU trailed BU, 98.25 to 79.35 at the break.
 
ETBU put together another strong event in the Toss with 22.90 points. They had an 8.40 in the 450 Salto and a 7.60 in the Synchronized. In Tumbling, ETBU posted 42.250 points with two 8.00s. They had an 8.00 in the Duo Pass and the 6 Element Pass. They then finished the meet with 67.18 points in the team event for a total of 211.680.
 
ETBU will take on Azusa Pacific University on March 7 in Azusa, Calif., at 7:00 p.m. pacific time.
