A&T | ETBU Scores 210 Points at APU in West Coast Meet

AZUSA, Calif. – Traveling out to the West Coast facing #2 Azusa Pacific University for the first time in program history, the East Texas Baptist University acrobatics and tumbling team had their second best scores of the season. They finished with 210.865 to APU's 279.185.
 
ETBU started the meet off with a great showing in the Compulsory trailing APU by just 1.3 points, 27.50 to 36.20. ETBU had an 8.80 in the Acro Heat followed by a 9.60 and 9.70 in the Pyramid and Toss Heat. They finished with an 8.10 in the Tumbling Heat. ETBU scored better than APU in the Acro Heat, 8.80 to 8.45, for the best heat of the event.
 
They followed with 24.10 points in the Acro event as the 5 Element was their best heat. ETBU had an 8.75 to start and then followed with an 8.45 in the 6 Element and a 6.90 in the 7 Element. They fell behind APU in the event, 29.60 to 24.10.
 
The third event before the half was is the Pyramid where ETBU scored 26.90 and was just behind APU's 29.55. The best heat came in the Open with a 9.50. They started with an 8.55 in the Inversion and then an 8.85 in the Synchronized. At the half, ETBU trailed APU by just over nine points, 96.65 to 87.20.
 
ETBU scored 24.75 points in the Toss event out of 27.80 start value. They posted a 7.65 to start in the 450 Salto and then an 8.50 in the Synchronized. They followed with their best score of the event at an 8.60 in the open. APU came away with 29.80 points pulling their lead to over 15 points.
 
APU then took a larger lead over ETBU in the tumbling event 55.635 points to the Tiger's 43.325 points. ETBU's best pass was the Aerial receiving an 8.50. They then had an 8.00 in the 6 Element. In the final event, the Team Event, ETBU scored 55.590 to finish with 210.865. APU scored 99.160 tallying 279.185.
 
ETBU will be back in Ornelas Gym on Friday, March 18, when they host Concordia University-Wisconsin.
